Bose Ford for born in 1899.
From Bose's marriage to Beulah Carroll, he had five children: Milton, Goree, Willie B, Addie Lee, Lorenzo.
Bose moved his wife and family from Turk Ranch to College Station, and eventually to Bryan, Texas. He purchased property when he relocated his family to Bryan, Texas in order to raise his children in the manner in which he had been raised and was accustomed.
With each move that Bose made with his family, he would later bring his younger sisters, Winnie-Mae Ford and Atoy Ford, to live with him. He did this so that they could be closer to a school.
Bose Ford was a gererous person and a loving, carging father. Bose passed away, in 1930 at an early age, of natural causes.
After Bose passed away Beulah had a another child by the name of James.
Milton (Bud) Ford, Sr., was the oldest child born to Bose and Beulah Ford. When his father passed away, he went to live with his Uncle Ed and Aunt Mag Carroll. He was a very thoughtful and caring person.
He was married to Ada Lee Washington. To this union four children were born. Milton Ford, Jr., Katherine “Kitty” Ford-Brown, Lillian Ford-Bowers and Angel Ford.
In keeping with the “Ford Legacy” he was also an entrepreneur. Milton and Ada Lee owned one of the earliest Beauty Parlors in College Station.
He was always helping other people. When his sister Addie needed him he was always there as her supporter. He would help unconditionally. Keeping up with the family legacy, Milton Sr. was a true servant of God. He became a minister and one of the earlier churches that he pastored was Old Bethlehem of Tunis, Texas. He later helped build a church in Benchley, Texas.
When he died he was the Pastor of Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Galveston, Texas.
Goree Ford was one of four children born to Bose and Beulah Ford. After his father passed, he went to live with his grandfather and grandmother, George and Victoria Ford. He was like a little brother to Winnie, Atoy and Kermit even though he was their nephew.
He was a quiet young man. He would often come to visit his Aunt Viola ,with his brother Bud, (Milton Sr.)at her laundry, Toliver's Home Laundry. He was a very good listener and very tall. Goree always helped his grandfather out on the farm. He married Vivian Baker and they moved to Houston, TX.
Goree had four children, Tyree Ford, Jean Ford Smith, Gary Ford, and Lawrence Sterling.
Willie B. Ford Pharms, was the oldest daughter of Bose and Beulah Ford. She was married to R. W. Robinson and is the mother of five children: Milton Earl Ford-Wells [born prior to her marriage to R. W.], Barbara Robinson-Boone-Day, R. W. Robinson, Jr., James “Mack” Robinson and Willie B. “Bonnie” Robinson..
She retired in May of 1991 from the City of College Station School District as a Supervisor of Housekeeping after 25 years of dedicated service. The Bryan Daily Eagle did an article on her retirement.
Willie B. is very funny and like most of the Ford offspring, you know when she is in the room because you will hear her booming voice. She is was a lead singer in the Choir at College Hills Baptist Church and is active in the Mission Department.
She was know as:
Addie Lee was known to the family as “Baby Sister.” She was a very quiet person. After her father passed, she went to live with her Aunt Minnie Carroll and her Uncle.
She later married Eddie Smith and had four sons: Edward Glen, Lawrence, Ferman, and Charles. Eddie moved to Kansas City to find work, and while there, his health failed him and he passed in Kerville, TX. Eddie Smith was was buried in Houston, TX at the age of 52.
Addie later married Lee Cooper. When Marjorie (Fan) was a teenager, she used to babysit Edward Glen. They lived around the corner from their Aunt Viola’s laundry in the Spring Green Community, which is now known as Park Place.
Addie Lee at one point moved to Houston with her four sons, all of whom graduated from college. When she became ill, her sons took very good care of her. She passed at a fairly young age.
Lorenzo "Sonnie" Ford Sr. was born on January 13th in 1930. He was most remembered for his singing talents. He was in the church choir and sang with a quartet during his younger years. He grew up in Brazos County where he would spend a lot of time with family and friends. He was really close to his nephew Lawrence Smith, who fondly remembers "Uncle Sonnie" as a good and caring person. However, Lorenzo was also known for his love of the night life. He loved to have a good time!
Lorenzo was also known for his individualistic personality. His cousin Marjorie "Fan" Thompson recalls when Lorenzo invented his own conk. Conk was a men's hairstyle that looked like a perm. From what I've learned during my research, creating your own conk was not unusual. However, Lorenzo messed up on his recipe and burned his scalp so bad, that he had red patches on his head where hair used to be.
Another story about Lorenzo that his cousins Marjorie and Eleanor remember was his time in the Army. However, this story has not been proven to be true, because many of the Bose descendants don't remember Lorenzo being in the Army. Anyways, Lorenzo supposedly joined the Army and was dishonorably discharged. However, he turned around and enlisted again under his middle and last name leaving the Army honorably the second time. This story may not be valid, because everyone I have talked to who knew Lorenzo well, said he didn't have a middle name and never joined the Army.
While living in Texas, Lorenzo married Nell Ford, but separated from her and moved to Denver, CO.
While in Denver, he met Patricia Beth Navarro and later married her. Through their union, they had a daughter and son, Estella Beth Ford and Lorenzo Ford Jr. However, when Lorenzo moved his family to Texas, Lorenzo Jr. died shortly after, at the age of 6 months. Their union lasted for a few years, until he separated from Patricia and moved back to College Station, Texas with his daughter. He stayed in College Station until his death in March of 1984.
Lorenzo is survived by his daughter Estella Beth Ford- Pierre; grandchildren: Paula Murphy, Derrick Pierre, Shari R. Pierre, Marcus Pierre; and a multitude of great-grand children.
James (Punk) Ford was the last child born to Beulah Ford. He served this country in the Korean War. While in combat he was injured in his knee, and was honorably discharged.
His nephew Lawrence Smith, the son of Addie Lee Smith-Cooper, remembers the day Uncle James came home. It was an exciting, and emotional moment. Lawrence was five years old.
James married, and had three beautiful children: Fred, Paul, and Jean. One of his sons, Reverend Fred Ford, was the former pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Bryan, Texas.
