Sam Ford was born in 1896.
Sam married Mamie Dorsey and had nine children: Sam Jr., Georgia, Vivian, Robert Charles, Jessie Ray, Johnnie May, Lillian, Esterlene, and Heulette.
Sam Ford was obviously a man of many talents. He spent his days being active in the community by leading the Roans Chapel Quartet, being an announcer at WTAQ radio station in College Station, and according to many locals, making the best corn whiskey in Brazos County.
While growing up as the eldest of the Ford children, Sam did his share of work on the farm at Turk Ranch. In 1942, staying consistent with his siblings, he moved his family to Vancouver, Washington, to work at the Kaiser Shipyard and upon his return to Texas he worked at Lawrence Wholesale in Bryan.
Sam Ford was killed by a sherrif at the age of 47.

Georgia V. Ford Turner was the second oldest child of Sam and Mamie Ford. She was married to a Mr. Turner and they had no children.
Georgia was in the military and they lived in Denver, Colorado. She was always fun loving and a person that you enjoyed being around.
Thanks to Georgia V. Turner, Eleanor's son Randy and Heulette's daughter Jackie didn't start dating! The two met at a local Denver club, and started talking.
However, Georgia recognized the family resemblence in Randy and stopped the two from dating
Vivian “Tea” Ford-Duren was the second oldest daughter and the third child of Sam and Mamie. She was always fun loving and a joy to be around.
Vivan met Thomas Duren, and later married him. From their union two daughters were born: Linda Duren-Patton and Barbara Jean Duren-McDonald. Along with their daughter, they also raised Tea's sisters Lillian, Esterlene, and Heulette. They all lived as one big happy family. Vivan and Thomas (deceased) were blessed with four grandchildren: Anthony, Andre, and Terry, Linda's youngest son. They also have great grandchildren.
The Duren's do not like the cold. Linda and her mother resides in Denver until the weather turns south, then they travel to Arizona where Barbara lives year round.
Robert Charles “Good” Ford was the fourth child of Sam and Mamie, he also served in the military. After serving his country in World War II, he lived in Denver, Colorado along with his siblings.
Robert "Good" Charles Ford did not have any children.
Jessie Ray Ford was born to the late Sam and Mamie Ford on November 28, 1925 in Bryan, Texas. He grew up in the Roan's Chapel Community and joined the Roan's Chapel Baptist Church as a small child. He was married to Mrs. Stella Fields and to this union seven children were born-five girls and two boys.
The union between Stella Fields and Jessie Ray Ford ended, and he later married Mrs. Delme Ward and remained with her unitl his death on October 5, 1972.
Although his life was shortened, and he was called to come home by the Lord, his legacy lives on. At the time of his death he had nine grandchildren.. One of them, Steven Johnston (known as "Little Bad Steven Johnston"), was a three time light weight boxing champion.
Lillian “Lump” Ford-Weaver, resides in Chicago, Illinois, however, she will often accompany her sister and nieces to Arizona. She doesn't like the cold.
She went to school to study nursing, and currently works in hospice care in Chicago. However, she has many talents. She and her sister Esterlene were backup singers for the Argo Singers of Argo, Illinois.
Esterlene's accomplishments include: being a member of the Argo Singers of Argo, Illinois, and the world renowned Abetina Walker and the Caravan Gospel Singers (appearing at the Apollo Theatre, Madison Square Garden, Corno Hall, and many other places). She also completed the Madam C.J. Walker Academy of Cosmetology in Chicago, Illinois, and was a dedicated wife.
Esterlene was born in Bryan, Texas on March 1, 1932. Her mother and father, Sam and Mamie Ford, preceded her in death and she was raised by Vivian and Thomas Duren. Esterlene was married to Grover C. Smith in Denver, Colorado on September 17, 1950.
She found hope in Christ at an early age and grew up a faithful Christian, moving to Denver, Colorado where she united with Union Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. J. T. Walker. She continued her loyalty to God, giving the best of her service in Little Zion Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. She also served Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana; and the Roans Chapel Baptist Church in Bryan, Texas where she remained a faithful member until she answered the call on August 2, 1994.
